Woman taken from Epsom Assembly Rooms and raped

A woman in her 20s has been raped by a man she met in a Surrey pub.

Surrey Police said the woman had been drinking in Epsom and met two men in the Assembly Rooms in Epsom High Street on Wednesday night.

When the pub closed at about midnight, the woman was taken to an address where she was attacked.

Officers are studying CCTV footage from the Assembly Rooms and the town centre. The suspects were both described as black and one had an American accent.

'Terrifying ordeal'

The man who attacked her was described as black, in his late-20s, about 5ft 9in tall, with a medium build and shaved head, wearing blue jeans.

Det Sgt Clive Vale said: "This was a terrifying ordeal which has understandably left a young woman very traumatised."

He said police wanted to speak to anyone who was socialising in the town on Wednesday night, particularly in the Assembly Rooms, who might have seen the two men.

Insp Craig Knight urged anyone who was in the area at the time to report anything that might help.

The woman met the men at about 22:00 BST and was taken to the second address about two hours later.
