Unofficial London 2012 Olympic ticket site warning

People in Surrey have been urged not to use unauthorised websites offering Olympic and Paralympic tickets to avoid being left out of pocket.

Three people in Hindhead, Walton and Dorking recently spent £1,500 on tickets through unofficial sellers, according to Surrey Trading Standards.

It said when they realised their mistake they contacted the websites but could not get a full refund.

Trading Standards has urged people to use the 2012 ticketing website checker .

Lucy Corrie, of Surrey Trading Standards, said there was no guarantee tickets from unofficial outlets would arrive.

She said: "I understand people want to watch the Olympic and Paralympic Games but I would strongly advise them not to risk their money as there are no guarantees tickets bought through unofficial channels will arrive.

"I'm concerned the number of complaints we receive will increase as London 2012 gets closer."
