Surrey Police take 'pumpkin patrols' back on the road

Police officers in a pumpkin-themed patrol car will be making their way around Surrey over the next two weeks to try to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Surrey Police said the run-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night was usually one of the busiest times of the year, leading to a rise in incidents.

Officers will visit various events urging youngsters to stay safe.

They will also be asked not to target people who do not want to be involved in the celebrations.

Youngsters will be given a glow-in-the-dark wristband with the message "Don't Scare. Take Care".

Police will be driving a bright orange vehicle that has been turned into a Halloween patrol car.

Supt Sharon Bush said it followed successful campaigns over the last few years.
