Surrey Police raid Woking homes in drugs crackdown

Twenty-one people have been arrested after police carried out early-morning raids across Woking to try to crack down on the supply of class A drugs.

About 200 Surrey officers were involved in the initiative, called Operation Hibiscus, which began at 05:30 GMT.

Fifteen addresses were raided and police said more action was planned for the next few days.

The areas targeted were Sheerwater, Maybury, Goldsworth Park, Westfield, Horsell and Mount Hermon.

Supt Darren McInnes said: "Today sees officers act on the information gathered over the past few months."

He added: "Operation Hibiscus is focused on disrupting the activities of dealers in the borough and interrupting the supply of illegal drugs.

"By this, we also hope to target those involved in burglary and handling stolen goods, with the all too obvious link being that many drug users commit crime to fund their habit."
