Old Cranleighan Sports Club fire causes £10,000 damage

An arson attack on a building used to store hockey and rugby equipment at a Surrey sports club caused damage estimated at £10,000, police have said.

Surrey fire investigation officers are working with police to establish the cause of the suspicious fire at Old Cranleighan Sports Club, Thames Ditton.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at an outbuilding in Portsmouth Road at 22:10 GMT on Monday.

The cost of new equipment and building repairs is estimated at £10,000.

Extensive damage was caused to the building.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
