Dorking town centre development plans

Plans for 100 homes, shops and a supermarket are included in draft proposals for the redevelopment of Dorking town centre.

Mole Valley District Council is also detailing development of road improvements to cater for the level of traffic expected in the town.

The plan was developed after consultation with residents, businesses and retailers.

The action plan will be discussed at a council committee meeting on Tuesday.

The proposals include housing on the site of the former police station and the adult education centre in Dene Street.

The council will debate the proposals on 17 January and a public inquiry will be held in the summer.

Simon Ling, from the council, said: "We believe what is put forward in the draft action plan will deliver the investment that Dorking needs to make sure it has a vibrant and economically healthy town centre that residents, businesses and visitors want to come to."
