No verdicts in prison officer Simon Dykes sex trial

Jurors have failed to reach verdicts in the trial of a 45-year-old prison officer accused of sex acts with women inmates at a Surrey jail.

Simon Dykes, of Dorking, denied four charges of misconduct in public office in a trial at Guildford Crown Court.

The jury was given a majority direction but was unable to reach verdicts.

Charges denied by Mr Dykes, of Westcott, involved allegations of sex acts with women at Downview prison in Sutton.

A court clerk said it was now up to the prosecution lawyers to decide whether to seek a retrial.
