Pedestrian killed in Oxted named by police

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Surrey has been identified as a man from the West Midlands.

Gwilym John, 86, from Halesowen, died from his injuries at the scene in Station Road, Oxted, after being struck by a silver Mazda on 23 December.

The incident was initially referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission as a marked police vehicle was in the vicinity at the time.

Surrey Police said it had now been referred back to the force.
