Spelthorne council tackles dog fouling concerns

A steady increase in reports of dog fouling has led a Surrey council to take action over the problem.

Spelthorne council is to issue dog control orders covering playgrounds, parks and roads within the borough.

The council said dog fouling in parks and on the street had been increasing steadily, with more than 50 reports received in one three-month period.

It said it hoped the controls would reduce incidents and make the area more pleasant for residents and children.

The local authority said the control orders would be published shortly.

Under the orders, people will face on-the-spot fines for offences such as failing to remove faeces.
