Two badly hurt as car hits pole in Lingfield

Two people are in hospital with serious injuries after their car left the road and hit a telegraph pole.

Surrey Police said the accident happened at 20:30 GMT on Sunday as the Peugeot 106 was being driven along Ray Lane, Lingfield.

One person in the car is in a stable condition in hospital.

The other, who is in a life-threatening condition, has been transferred to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London.

Sgt Sharon Adams, of Surrey road policing unit at Staines, is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
