Hospital warning over vomit bug

People suffering from the winter vomiting bug should not seek treatment at A&E, Surrey health chiefs warn.

Pippa Hart, the director of nursing at Epsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals, said people risked bringing the infection into hospital wards.

She said: "There is no particular treatment for norovirus so the public can help limit the spread by staying away from hospitals."

Norovirus causes an attack of vomiting, often accompanied by diarrhoea.

The illness usually lasts a few days and most people recover by resting and drinking plenty of liquids.
