New homes in Dorking proposed under town action plan

Plans for 100 homes and a supermarket in Dorking have taken a step forward.

Mole Valley District Council published its Dorking Town Area Action Plan earlier.

It includes enhancements to the appearance of the town and improvements to roads to accommodate extra traffic.

James Friend, leader of the council, said the plan would ensure Dorking retained its "charm and character" while providing new homes, shops and businesses.

The council will submit the plan to the government, which will appoint a planning inspector to hold a public inquiry.
