Badly hurt man found unconscious in Guildford

A man has been found under a footbridge in Guildford with a fractured pelvis and facial and eye injuries.

Surrey Police said it was unclear how the man, from Somerset, received the injuries before he was found in Walnut Tree Close at 01:28 GMT on Friday.

The 30-year-old was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, where his condition is stable.

Earlier, he had been involved in a row with another man outside Guildford railway station.

'Lying unconscious'

"The victim sustained serious injuries which could be life-changing," said Det Con Mike Taylor.

"I really need to establish how he came to be found lying unconscious on the towpath next to the Odeon cinema.

"I urge anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the station and witnessed these two men to come forward, or similarly anyone who was in the surrounds of the Odeon cinema."

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a racially aggravated public order offence at the railway station.
