Increased patrols after Chertsey break-ins

Police patrols are being stepped up after a spate of break-ins across a Surrey town in the past week.

Five break-ins have been reported in Chertsey at different times of the day, Surrey Police said.

Officers are increasing foot and vehicle patrols in the area and carrying out house to house inquiries.

Sgt Andy Gibbon said: "I can assure Chertsey residents that everything possible is being done to prevent further burglary offences."

He added: "Scene of Crime Officers have also carried out forensic examinations at a number of the locations."
