Dog scares away attacker following assault in Oxted

Surrey Police are looking for a man who knocked a woman in her 50s to the ground and tried to remove her clothes before her dog scared him away.

Officers believe the attack, which happened in Oxted on Sunday, may have had "sexual motives".

The attack took place between 14:30 and 15:00 GMT along a bridleway known as Old Lane, near Rockfield Road.

Police said a man in his 20s had been arrested and was helping officers with the investigation.

Det Ch Insp Karen Hughes said: "Although the woman was not seriously injured in the attack, the ordeal has understandably left her shaken and we need to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.

"We are still in the early stages of the investigation but we do believe the suspect may have had sexual motives and we need the community to help us piece together this incident."
