Detectives investigating a fire in Guildford in which a woman died are hoping to speak to a man who was left seriously injured in the incident.

The 57-year-old man was taken to a specialist burns unit after the fire at Bedford House, a block of flats in Onslow Street, on Monday.

Surrey Police said officers hoped to speak to him on Wednesday depending on his condition, which remained serious.

The 45-year-old woman who was found dead has not yet been named.

Officers are still working to establish her next-of-kin, police said.

Detectives said all cordons were lifted around the scene on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for the force added that police remained open-minded and were pursuing all lines of inquiry to establish what happened.
