Bogus police and UK Border officials in 30 Surrey attacks

Elderly people in Surrey have been targeted in a series of about 30 attacks by men disguised UK Border or police officers.

The victims were approached by the bogus officials trying to gain entry to their homes over the last three months.

The men claimed they were investigating a crime and showed false identification before stealing items.

On Friday a 90-year-old Hersham woman was injured in the latest burglary and remains in hospital.

Crimestoppers have offered a £5,000 reward for information about the Hersham robbery.

Over the last three months offences, each committed by between one and three men, have been reported in Elmbridge, Guildford, Spelthorne, Epsom, and Mole Valley.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said that, because the victims had been unable to give precise descriptions, they were unable to say if all the crimes were committed by the same people.
