Nuisance property in Badshot Lea closed down

Residents' disruptive behaviour at a house in Surrey has led to the property being shut down.

Surrey Police said a closure notice, banning anyone from entering the property in Rankine Close, Badshot Lea, was granted by magistrates.

Neighbours gave evidence anonymously about loud music, noise nuisance and aggressive behaviour by its occupants.

The closure notice, granted on Wednesday, will remain in place for three months.

'Community benefit'

Anyone seen entering the property will be arrested and may receive a fine or prison sentence for breaching the order.

Police and Waverley Borough Council worked together to secure the closure notice.

"Local residents have suffered serious nuisance from the unacceptable behaviour associated with this property and I hope the community will benefit from the closure order," said Insp Tom Budd.

"The purpose of the notice is not only to help the community affected by the persistent behaviour but to offer support to those involved and help them permanently change their behaviour."
