Elmbridge Council election candidate Bruce King dies

A vote in a ward in Surrey in the upcoming local elections has been cancelled due to the death of a candidate.

Elmbridge Borough Council announced that Bruce King, who was the Labour candidate for Esher ward, has died.

The returning officer Robert Moran said a by-election is likely to be held on 21 June.

He added: "I offer my sincere condolences to Mr King's family at this difficult time."
