A man aged 18 has been arrested after an arson attack at a church in Surrey.

Hymn books, leaflets, a computer monitor and a chair were set alight at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Burpham in the early hours of 12 May.

A fire extinguisher was torn off the wall, graffiti scrawled on the floor and crockery and furniture damaged during the incident.

Surrey Police said an 18-year-old man was arrested and released on police bail until 5 July.

The church said services at the church in New Inn Lane had gone ahead as normal following the attack.
