Surrey non-emergency patient transport contract signed

A contract for non-emergency patient transport in Surrey has been signed by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

NHS Surrey and Surrey County Council awarded the three-year contract, which will begin on 1 October.

They claim the joint procurement will save £620,000 a year. A new booking system will be managed by the Surrey County Council call booking service.

G4S has run the service since 2006 and its contract will expire at the end of September.
