Hurst Green industrial estate homes approved
Houses and flats are to be built on a Surrey industrial estate despite residents' fears it will increase pressure on schools and GP surgeries.
Tandridge councillors have approved plans to build 109 houses and 63 flats at Fairview Industrial Estate in Holland Road, Hurst Green.
Of those, 56 homes will be for rent or shared ownership. Tandridge has 1,700 people on its housing register.
"It's a very welcome development," said Councillor David Weightman.
"I understand that there are concerns about over-stretched infrastructure, but we cannot deal with existing problems as part of this planning application."
He said a contribution of £125,000 from the development would go to Surrey County Council to deal with parking and traffic problems and £561,000 to deal with extra pressure on Holland Junior School.
The local primary care trust will receive £55,000 for GP services.
