Surrey Police arrest two men over Ripley violent attack

Two men have been arrested after what police have called a "vicious assault" in a Surrey village.

Officers said a 30-year-old man was attacked in Ripley after an altercation involving two other men in Georgelands - a residential area with a school.

The victim suffered serious injuries on Wednesday, Surrey Police said.

Det Con Andy Greaves said the attack happened in a neighbourhood where people were "out and about". He urged witnesses to tell police what they saw.

He said the first altercation between the three men happened between 11:00 BST and 11:30 BST, in the village near Woking.

A further dispute followed and a van was damaged and then all three left the scene, he added.

The attacked man was treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head and arms.

Two men, from Guildford and East Horsley, are being held in custody.
