Three displaced residents put in hotel after Surrey flats fire

Three people had to be put up in temporary accommodation after a fire broke out at their flats in Surrey.

About 60 people evacuated the building after the fire broke out on the balcony of a third floor flat at Surrey Towers in Addlestone on Saturday.

Two flats were damaged by fire and several others by water and smoke.

Deborah Blowers, from Runnymede Borough Council, said most of the residents had returned home but three were housed at a local hotel.

The authority would assist them until they could move back into their flats, she said.
