Three police officers and a civilian worker have been served with misconduct notices as part of an investigation into the death of a man who collapsed while in custody.

Jan McLean, 34, was arrested in Boxgrove Park, Guildford on 12 August and taken to the town's police station.

He became unwell and was taken to hospital, where he died two days later.

The police watchdog is investigating why officers went to the flat in Collingwood Crescent.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the contact between police and the three people who were in the flat and Mr McLean's treatment by officers from the point of his arrest to his transfer to hospital.

A Surrey Police spokesman said the force was "continuing to fully co-operate and assist in any way that we can".
