Egham baby death: Arrested pair rebailed

Two people arrested on suspicion of murder after a one-year-old girl died in hospital have been bailed for a further six weeks.

The 24-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested after the death of the girl from Egham, Surrey in St George's Hospital, Tooting on 29 May.

She was admitted to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey with serious injuries the previous day and transferred.

Surrey Police said an initial post-mortem examination was inconclusive.

More tests will now be carried out.

The two people have also been questioned on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and child neglect.

They have been bailed until 16 July.
