Surrey fire engine on 999 call hits Esher pedestrian

A fire engine on a 999 call has hit a pedestrian in Esher town centre.

Surrey Police said the man was struck by a vehicle from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service in Portsmouth Road, just before 19:00 GMT on Saturday.

The man in his 50s was taken to hospital in London with serious injuries.

Police closed the road for more than three hours while an investigation took place. Anyone who saw what happened is urged to contact the force.
