Redhill man stabbed by scooter-riding robber

A man was stabbed several times in a "violent attack" by a scooter-riding robber who tried to steal his phone.

The victim, in his 20s, was attacked when he refused to give his mobile phone to a man in St Anne's Drive, Redhill, at about 18:00 GMT on Wednesday.

He told police "he felt two or three punches" but later realised he had been stabbed with a weapon.

The man is being treated in hospital in for not life-threatening injuries.

Det Con Kirsty Webb, of Surrey Police, said: "Although the suspect has escaped empty-handed, this was a particularly violent attack which has left the victim with a number of puncture wounds.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area to identify the man responsible and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any other information which could progress our investigation, to come forward as a matter of urgency."

The suspect was riding a scooter that had two plastic bags wrapped round the handles.
