Villages are being invited to enter a business awards competition in Surrey after a new category was added.

Surrey Heath council's first business awards had five categories last year but in 2015 a sixth will recognise the best village or rural business.

Council leader Moira Gibson said the borough's main town, Camberley, had a big business focus.

But she said the borough also had many villages and a category had been added for them.

Last year's awards celebrated everything positive about the borough's businesses and local economy, she said.

One of the council's key priorities was to promote the economic vitality of its towns, villages and neighbourhoods, she added.

The closing date for entries for the 2015 awards is 16 February, with judging taking place in March.
