Man dies after Guildford street assault

A man has died after an assault outside a Surrey social club following a private function.

Richard Stroud, 46, from Guildford, was attacked outside Guildford City Social Club on Joseph's Road at about 22:00 GMT on Saturday, Surrey Police said.

He was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south-west London, with serious head injuries and died later.

A 32-year-old man was arrested near the scene a short time after the attack and remains in custody.

A man in his 50s and another man in his 20s also suffered facial injuries during the assault.

Any witnesses have been asked to contact police.
