Firearms and jewellery stolen in Banstead burglary

Five rifles and four shotguns, along with ammunition and thousands of pounds worth of jewellery, have been stolen from a property in Surrey.

A front window of the house in Brighton Road, Banstead was forced open sometime between 09:30 and 21:50 GMT on Sunday.

Surrey Police said the owner of the property is a licensed firearms holder.

Officers have linked the burglary to the theft of a white Mercedes car from the driveway of a house in Shawley Crescent, in Epsom, on the same day.

The same offenders are also being linked to two incidents of criminal damage the day before.

A number of windows were smashed at a house in Kingswood and the rear windscreen of a blue Mercedes was broken in Redhill.
