4x4 raiders tow classic Ford Mexico from Ripley showroom

Ram-raiders in a 4x4 have towed away a vintage racing car after smashing into a classic car showroom.

Two hooded suspects chained the 1972 Ford Mexico to an old-style Land Rover and drove it away from the Trackspeed showroom in Ripley, Surrey Police said.

The vintage rally car, taken at about 21:20 GMT on Tuesday, is valued at £120,000, sports a DAD 422K number plate and the number 27 on its side.

A third suspect is thought to have acted as a getaway driver.

Police described one suspect as wearing a light-coloured hooded top and blue bottoms.

A second suspect was described as wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, blue bottoms with a white logo on the side, and multi-coloured trainers.

Det Con Lawrence Burden appealed for any witnesses who may have seen the car being towed to contact police.

"This was a brazen offence which was clearly planned," he said, "In which a very specific car, which would be difficult to sell due to its rarity, was stolen."
