Driver arrested after M25 police chase

A driver has been arrested after a police chase along the M25 and A3 in Surrey which closed three lanes of the dual carriageway.

Surrey Police said two vehicles pursued a black Peugeot which careered between lanes of the M25 at up to 90 miles an hour, heading towards Heathrow.

It was earlier in a crash with another car on the A25 at Oxted and had a damaged tyre.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The car was chased between junctions six and 10 before being halted on the A3 southbound at 10:15 BST.

Two southbound and one northbound carriageway were shut for 40 minutes.

The man, who was taken to East Surrey Hospital as a precaution, was also held on suspicion of criminal damage, failing to stop for police, threats to kill and assault.

One police officer suffered a minor injury.
