Tributes to stabbed Coldingley inmate Madala Washington

The family of an inmate who was stabbed to death at HMP Coldingley in Surrey have paid tribute to him.

Madala Washington's family said their love for the 25-year-old who died at the category C prison in Bisley on 1 April would remain "unshakeable".

A post-mortem examination concluded he died from stab wounds, Surrey Police said.

A 23-year-old inmate who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed until 2 June.

In a statement released through police, Washington's family said their son and brother had blessed them for 25 years.

"His beautiful presence, loving spirit and aspirations for the future will never be forgotten," they said.

They said they would pray for his dreams to be remembered every day.

"We would like to thank all family and friends that have given us support at this devastating time," they added.
