A fourth man has been held on suspicion of the attempted murder of a man who was through his front door in Sussex.

The 29-year-old was treated for minor leg injuries after two shots were fired through the closed front door of his home in Park Way, Crawley, on Tuesday.

Sussex Police said a 48-year-old man was arrested outside the county at about 1700 BST.

Three other men, all in their 20s, have been held in custody in connection with shooting since Wednesday.

'Considerable intelligence'

The victim slammed the door on his attacker before the shots were fired, police said.

Det Ch Insp Nick Sloane said: "I'm grateful to the community for their support of the investigation.

"This is a fast timed and dynamic inquiry in which we have gained considerable intelligence."

The force has confirmed the injured man was the victim of an arson attack on 5 July and it was investigating possible links.

In that incident, the victim's window was smashed and accelerant poured into the property, causing damage to the living room.
