Girl 'shaken' by attack in street in Portslade

A 17-year-old girl was attacked and injured in an assault in Brighton which police say might have been an attempted sex attack or robbery.

The teenager received superficial injuries but was very shaken by the attack in Mill Lane, Portslade, in the early hours of Friday.

A man attempted to grab the girl and pushed her against the wall before running off north along Mill Lane.

Police said he fled after being interrupted by a passing car.

'Intentions unclear'

"I am keen to trace this driver, who may have important information," said Det Con Amanda Payne, of Sussex Police.

"The man's intentions are unclear and detectives remain open minded to the possibility the attack was either an attempted robbery or sexually motivated."

The suspect is described as black, 5ft 6in, slim, of broad build and aged between 20 and 30.

He had roughly shaven hair, stubble and was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

A man was arrested and is being questioned by police.
