Intruder robs Hastings woman of £1,200 in cash

A 51-year-old woman has been robbed of £1,200 in cash after a man pushed his way into her home.

Police said the woman answered a knock at the door of her home in Hastings on Saturday night to be confronted by a man holding a piece of stone.

The man forced his way into the property just off Hollington Park Road and took the cash.

During a struggle the woman was struck on the back of her shoulder with the stone and suffered a severe bruise.

Det Con Hollie Freeman said: "This was a very nasty, but unusual, attack on a woman in her own home.

"She bravely struggled with the intruder and is lucky not to have received worse injuries."

The robbery happened just before 2130 BST, officers said.

The man was described as white, about 5ft 7ins, in his early 20s, and thin with a pointed chin and stubble, wearing black clothing and a hooded top.
