Man jailed for Sussex nightclub killing

A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to a minimum of four years in jail after he admitted killing another man outside a Sussex nightclub on New Year's Day.

Ricky Brown, 25, was assaulted near the Ocean Rooms club in Brighton and died in hospital on 5 January.

Chancey Cummings, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and grievous bodily harm at a previous hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

He was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection on Monday.

Mr Brown was treated at the Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath after he was attacked by Cummings.

He is believed to have suffered a major brain injury after falling and hitting his head.
