Boss denies worker's manslaughter in Bognor

The boss of a maintenance company has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter by gross negligence after the death of a worker in West Sussex.

Managing director of Southern Property Maintenance, Richard James, 36, was charged in connection with the death of Shane Offer, 21, from Lancing.

Mr Offer fell through a skylight at Rosebys in Bognor Regis in June 2009.

Mr James, of First Avenue, Worthing, denied manslaughter at Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

He was remanded on bail to await a trial due to begin on 15 March next year.

Following the incident, Mr Offer was flown to the Royal London Hospital in east London, but he died from his injuries.
