A man aged in his mid-60s has died in a fire at a mobile home park in West Sussex.

Firefighters were called to Woodlands Park in Main Road, Yapton, shortly before 1600 GMT on Sunday.

The body of the man, who has not been named, was found in the lounge area of one of the properties, which was heavily smoke-logged.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was not thought to have been started deliberately.

'Smoke billowing out'

Crews from Arundel, Littlehampton and Bognor attended the incident.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "On arrival, the caravan was billowing out copious amounts of smoke.

"Firefighters used breathing equipment to enter the property and a man in his mid-60s was found in the lounge area and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Sussex Police and West Sussex Fire Service are working together to establish the exact cause of the fire."
