Car stolen as windscreen defrosts in Shoreham-by-Sea

A man who left his car unattended for less than a minute while he waited for the windscreen to defrost had the vehicle stolen.

Sussex Police said the car was on a driveway in King George Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, when it was taken on Friday.

Officers want to hear from anyone who has seen the stolen Peugeot 207, registration MJ56LYT.

Pc Dave Slade has reminded car owners about the risk of leaving cars unattended while defrosting.

He said: "They are a tempting target for opportunistic thieves to either steal from your car or, like in this incident, to jump in and drive off."

He said the car owner left the car for about 30 seconds while the windscreen de-iced on Friday at about 0745 GMT.

The owner saw a man drive the vehicle away in the direction of Stoney Lane.
