Burgess Hill jeweller's targeted in smash-and-grab raid

Thousands of pounds worth of jewellery has been stolen in a smash-and-grab raid at a shop in West Sussex.

Police said two men drove up to Lawrence Sissling Jewellers in Cyprus Road, Burgess Hill, just before 0830 GMT on Tuesday and smashed the window.

After grabbing the stock they escaped in the same red Peugeot 206, which is thought to have been stolen.

The car, registration number X618 JKK, approached the shop from the direction of Church Road.

Police said the area was very busy at the time of the theft and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
