Nurses sought after Rudgwick road accident

Two nurses who helped a dying man following a crash involving a lorry are being sought by police to help with their inquires.

Lloyd Russell, 79, was killed in the crash on the A281 in Rudgwick shortly after 1200 GMT on 6 December.

Sussex Police said they wanted to trace two women who gave Mr Russell medical assistance at the scene.

Sgt Alan Spicer, of the road policing unit, said the women could have "vital information".

Seriously injured

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until 29 January pending further enquiries.

Mr Russell's 75-year-old wife, a passenger in his car, was seriously injured in the collision.

A police spokesman said she was now making "a steady recovery".
