Swan shot in head with air rifle in Littlehampton

A swan is recovering after being shot in the head with an air rifle.

The bird was found in Littlehampton, West Sussex, with a lump on its head due to an infection from the pellets.

It was taken to the RSPCA's Mallydams Wood centre near Hastings, East Sussex, where the pellets, which had been there for up to four weeks, were removed.

Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service has offered a £500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible.
