A man has been arrested after a traffic warden had a key flicked across his eye while he was issuing a parking ticket.

Sussex Police said the warden was ticketing a van parked illegally in Church Road, Hove, when a man pressed a key into his face and up into his eye.

The victim was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for a minor eye injury.

A 33-year-old Brighton man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until 15 March.

PC David Elliott said: "We are offering our support to the victim, who has been left clearly shaken by the assault. I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault."
