Woman sexually assaulted in Worthing

A woman was sexually assaulted in Worthing by a man who asked her for a light for a cigarette.

Sussex Police said the victim, in her 20s, was in Teville Road, near the railway station, at about 1330 GMT on Sunday, when she was attacked.

Officers said a man pushed her against the door of a house and sexually assaulted her, before running off.

Police said the woman was assaulted in "broad daylight" on a "relatively busy road".

Det Con Ali Hoad said: "A bus replacement service was running for the Worthing to Littlehampton train.

"It is possible the suspect may have been seen behaving suspiciously by passengers as the bus travelled along Teville Road."

The suspect was in his late-20s and of skinny build. He had short dark spiky hair and a small tuft of hair beneath his bottom lip.
