Van driver dies in A27 road crash near Selmeston

A 53-year-old motorist died when his van hit a tree in Sussex .

Sussex Police said the driver of the Citroen Berlingo van was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident on the A27 on Thursday night.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash at about 2130 GMT near Selmeston, on the stretch between Charleston Farmhouse and Middle Farm.

The man, who was from Hailsham, has not yet been named. The road reopened just after 0200 GMT, officers said.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Sussex Police.
