Man arrested over Brighton 'hit-and-run'

A man is being questioned over a suspected hit-and-run crash in Brighton in which a man was seriously injured.

Sussex Police said a pedestrian in his 30s was struck by a car in Widdicombe Way at 1140 GMT.

A force spokesman said the Volvo estate car went on to hit a wall and the driver fled from the scene.

A 21-year-old man later attended a police station in Brighton and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and leaving the scene.

The injured man, from Lancing, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
