Crawley fire death accused in court
A man accused of the murder of a six-year-old girl in a house fire in 2004 has made his first appearance before a crown court.
George Champion Sithole, of no fixed abode, is also charged with arson with intent to endanger life and arson being reckless whether life was endangered.
Dumo Sibanda died from smoke inhalation after a fire at her home in Crawley, West Sussex, more than six years ago.
Mr Sithole, 40, was remanded in custody until 27 May at Lewes Crown Court.
Other members of Dumo's family escaped the blaze in Banks Road, Pound Hill, on 26 October, but she was found inside the house.
Dumo was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
