Four bailed after six injured by air rifle in Hastings

Four people arrested in East Sussex after six people were hit by air rifle pellets have been bailed.

A weapon was recovered after firearms officers were called to an area near the Morrisons store in Queen's Road, Hastings, at about 1830 GMT on Tuesday.

Two of the victims were taken to the Conquest Hospital for treatment.

A boy, 14, shot in the neck, and a woman, 39, shot in the leg, were due to undergo surgery to remove the pellets. Four others were also hurt.

A 17-year-old girl was hit in the back, while a 49-year-old woman was hit on the hand, a 63-year-old woman was hit in the stomach and a 25-year-old man was hit in the arm.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents, or who may have been victims of a similar experience, is asked to contact Sussex Police.
